As a community leader or stakeholder, you may be interested in recent actions taken by the California Division of Safety of Dams about Hodges Dam.

 Their recent actions require the elevation of water storage at Hodges Reservoir to be limited to 295 feet to maintain safety of the dam structure and surrounding communities, ensure efficient use of the local water supply by the City and other local water agencies (SFID and San Dieguito Water District) and allow for necessary maintenance and improvement work on the Hodges Dam to occur.

Over the next year the City will work to develop a plan to implement Lake Hodges Dam performance and safety improvements. The primary function of Hodges Reservoir is storage for drinking water purposes, and a secondary function is to provide recreational opportunities. The restricted level is consistent with the reservoir’s normal elevation, so no significant changes to its operations are anticipated. 

The water in Hodges Reservoir is split between the City, San Diego County Water Authority, Santa Fe Irrigation District and San Dieguito Water District. The City continues to collaborate with these partners on the development of a specific operating plan should the level rise above an elevation of 295 feet.
