Construction Project Updates
As a water provider, we continuously upgrade, maintain, and repair our system so it can continue to serve our customers. The purpose of this page is to provide information about current Santa Fe Irrigation District projects, explain their need and benefits and inform the community about potential impacts during construction.
Although the District understands that construction creates an inconvenience, it is committed to keeping the community informed of current projects, while working to minimize construction impacts as much as possible.
For any questions or concerns about these projects, please call the District’s construction hotline at (858)-227-5800.

Community Impacts
The contractor continues to install portions of pipeline, valves and connection facilities along the pipeline routes. Some customers on Glenmont Drive will have their meter box relocated to accommodate upgraded structures. Letters have been sent to affected homeowners, please check your mailbox for information. If we have not heard back from affected customers, we will notify you of the planned construction and impact to your water service before work begins.
1. Glenmont/Government Rd.
Critical project replacing 3100 feet of aging pipeline in the City of Solana Beach on Glenmont Dr. N. Granados Ave., El Viento St.
Schedule
This project is expected to start Winter 2023 and end in early summer 2024. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Residents may experience delays when entering and leaving the work area.
What to Expect
Equipment and materials will be temporarily located in your neighborhood during construction. After new water pipeline is installed, crews will transfer water services, and make final connections. Once construction is completed, material and equipment will be removed.
How Will I Be Affected?
Any member of our community directly impacted by a water interruption or blocked driveway will be notified ahead of required construction activity.
Some driveways will be closed temporarily during construction and there could be brief water shutoffs to affected properties while pipelines are replaced. The District is working closely with our construction contractors to minimize impacts. Access to neighborhoods and businesses will be maintained at all times, traffic delays are expected and motorists are asked to follow traffic controls during this time or use an alternate route during the construction period, if possible.
Paving
The asphalt applied daily is temporary and designed to provide a safe road surface during construction. Final paving occurs after pipeline work is completed.
