A five-member Board of Directors elected for four-year terms governs the District. Each Director represents a geographical division of the service area.

Elections

SFID's directors are elected officials representing each of SFID's five divisions, and are selected by voters in the November general election in even-numbered years. Individuals interested in serving on the Board of Directors are invited to visit the County of San Diego Registrar of Voters for the latest information on how to file as a candidate, including filing deadlines. 

Per Diem Compensation

Water Code Sections 20200 through 20207 allow Irrigation Districts' to establish compensation received by Directors for sitting on the Board or acting under its orders. Currently, Directors receive compensation in the amount of $150 per day for each day's attendance at meeting of the Board or its committees. Directors also receive compensation in the amount of $150 per day for each day's service rendered as a Director, such as attendance at authorized meetings, conferences, and activities. Directors may choose not to receive compensation or per diems.
